Night Dreams EP is an emotive, soulful and syncopated journey in which the musician, JMist, personifies his inner voice, thoughts and dreams, with tangible identity other could relate with. This 160/ Hard hitting Ep is a blend of JMist’s background in jazz percussion, influenced by jungle/ roots reggae, HipHop and Funk/ Soul.

Deep silky saw pads, with a classic Leslie organ over syncopated percussion perfectly sets the map for this naturally chromatic and chilled-out project that can be experienced most in the chords and melody arrangement.

The first track Inside Me is about the magic people see inside themselves, talking to their inner core. The track represents the confidence people strive towards. Inside Me is inspired by P. Funk, Bootsy Collins/ James Brown on the groove. The first beat of the bar is muted in a bootsty inspired groove followed by a classic amen, playing scattered snares as a nod to Jungle.

The second track Night Dreams represents the freedom and expanse that comes when you let go of your fears and embrace all the potential possibilities. It's a dream but it's based in reality. The chilled pads, over a moog bass with flowing triplets in Night Dreams, is inspired by DJ Rashad/ Juke Bounce Werk from the rhythm, raw percussion and energy.
Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum inspired the raw composition and unrefined approach to the track itself.

About JMist

JMist, Jay Mistry is a music/ film audio producer and sonic designer. Indian Classical & Jazz percussion influenced Jay stylistically early on; from Roots, Neo-Soul to gospel. Production includes Hip-hop/ R&B to footwork and jungle; cinematic composition and design. Jay is also part of the acclaimed Dub Clinique collective founded by Jungle veteran Threshold, with a collaborative single STOP DEM on vinyl. Current credentials include Dominic Clarke’s feature “Mirrorless,” Benjamin Zephaniah’s Short Film, Rebello Music & Manarce’s “Soul Ballad.”
